Expert Answers about RV Sewer Hose Fittings

  • Troubleshooting Camco Rhinoflex Sewer Hose that Came Apart at Locking Ring
  • I'm sorry for that horrible experience that would make anyone an unhappy camper. The RhinoFLEX RV Sewer Hose Extension w/ Swivel Lug and Bayonet Fittings - 5' Long # CAM39765 has a locking ring as you mentioned that has the directions for use printed right on it. It sounds like the locking ring fitting it to the hose was not secured properly and was most likely why it came apart. This system is designed so that you can replace the hose and keep the fittings if ever needed. Cold should...

  • Can I Use Silicone Lubrication Spray on RV Sewer Hoses Without Damaging the Hose and Seals?
  • Using a silicone spray like the Roadmaster LubeMaster # RM-747 on your RhinoEXTREME RV Sewer Hose # CAM39861 will not damage the plastic or the seals, since it is non-corrosive. I can't say whether or not it will make a significant difference in the ease of connection but it definitely can't hurt.

  • How to Get the RhinoFLEX RV Sewer Hose w Swivel Fittings to Fit in a Bumper
  • I spoke to my contact at Camco and he said that if the lug end of the part # CAM39761 doesn't want to fit into the bumper of your trailer your best option would be to grind down two of the lugs and the hose would then fit.

  • Best Way to Access a Valterra RV Sewer Hose Storage Hatch That is Locked Without a Key
  • It looks like you have the Valterra RV Sewer Hose Storage Hatch w/ Lock # D04-0471VP, which means you'd have a lock like the Replacement Cam Lock with Key # A510 instead of the Valterra Replacement Cam Lock # A520VP. The correct keys would have that black top as well, like with the # D04-0471VP and # A510. I am not sure of any lock picking tricks, but the best way to get a lock unlocked is a locksmith. Looking at the lock, I do not see why you wouldn't be able to drill it out. You would...

  • What To Do When The Bayonet Lugs Break Off Of The Sewer Fitting
  • The lugs of a sewer pipe fitting can not be fixed so you would have to completely replace the fitting. To do that you'll have to first empty out the tank, which since your lug fitting has broken off will require you to hold the hose in place to prevent anything from leaking out on the ground. I highly recommend wearing gloves and glasses as well as a mask to safely get through this process. Once the tank is cleared you can then remove the fitting and replace it with a new one. If you...

  • Troubleshooting Leaking Black Water Fitting on 1969 Forester
  • The damaged outlet hole will require replacing. I believe you will need to drop the tank to see what is really wrong with the fitting to cause the leak. Then you will use the Valterra ABS Solvent Cement - 1/4 Pint # A05-0303 and I believe the LaSalle Bristol RV Sewer Slip Hub with Flange - 3" # 34466V13 to replace the broken fitting.

  • Air Line Hose Removal From Air Line Fittings on Air Lift Air Bag System Compressor
  • To remove the air line you will need to push in on the air fitting ring and then pulling out the air line. The air fitting acts similar to a Chinese finger trap. It will clamp on the air line when attempting to pull from the fitting if you do not hold the fitting in on itself. If the line is damaged you can replace it with the Air Lift 1/4" Synflex Air Line Tubing # AL73RV.

  • Replacement Water Lines and Fresh Water Inlet for Pop Up Camper
  • We do have water inlet fittings, like the Valterra Water Inlet for RVs # A01-0176LFVP, that would replace the entry fitting on the outside of your pop up camper if you decide to replace that fitting. To replace the water lines inside/under your camper, typically PEX pipes and fittings are used to make those connections. We do not have these available for purchase, but they are usually available at your local hardware store.

  • Troubleshooting RV Propane Tank, Regulator Hose and Grill Setup
  • Troubleshooting a propane setup requires substituting parts, one item at a time, with ones known to be functioning correctly, until the bad part is identified. With flammable gas there is no other safe way to isolate the item with the malfunction. Sometimes if a setup has been idle for a while (such as for a few days while you were getting your tank filled or while the unit was in off-season storage) insects can get into even the tiniest places and clog things up. Some fittings are small...

  • Outside Gas Grill Is Not Getting Propane On 2020 Thor Hurricane
  • On the main tank regulator for your 2020 Thor Hurricane, the knob has to be switched so the propane will flow to the outside hose. The regulator knob closes off the outlet so you don't have a constant flow of propane to the outside fitting when not using it.

  • Does the Phoenix Faucets Item # PF276054 Completely Shut Off Or Does It Trickle As Others Do
  • The trickle you get out of the head is in fact to avoid too much pressure to the hose and fittings going to the shower head from the main hot and cold knobs. When the water is turned off at the knobs the water will not trickle from the head and shouldn't unless one or both of the knobs is not completely closing off the water flow. The water should only trickle out of the head when the water is turned on by the main hot and/or cold knobs. I would not suggest leaving the hot and cold water...
